Unfinished

After a period of concentration on minimalist and site-specific public art, Latsky returns to her love of dynamic dancing, tackling the notion of “staying power” through feats of endurance. Unfinished is part homage to Latsky’s dance influences and part investigation of rituals designed to move us forward by keeping us in the present.

Whether spanning a linear path or rhythmically pounding on a spot, each section explores different movement styles while integrating the individual characteristics of the dancers – Meredith Fages’s speed and precision, Jerron Herman’s limitless vigor, Jillian Hollis’s juicy dynamism, Tiffany Geigel’s elegant intensity, and Heidi Latsky’s articulated virtuosity.

Unfinished was performed at both Dixon Place and the JCC Manhattan.

“Latsky’s movement style is wonderfully weighted and visceral. The end of one action is the beginning of the next, giving the choreography a sensual rebound that is graceful but not pretentious. We see, hear, and feel gravity.”

“The choreography — athletic, weighted, complex, and demanding — neither highlights nor ignores the physical disparities of her performers. Rather, the focus is on the individual characteristics of each dancer, the raw vulnerability of movement, and the beauty inherent in the human form.” (Read Full Review Here)
